Sedona Bike Park Clinic
Jumping, Pumping, and Drops
Saturday, October 11, 2025 - 10am-3pm
SMBA instructors love working on skills at the Sedona Bike Park. Our local park is an incredible tool to help accelerate your MTB learning process. For rider who do not spend time working on jumping, pumping and drops, it’s hard to know where to begin. Let us help break it down for you.
There are a variety of features that we will introduce during this full day clinic:
Pump Track - Learn why the pump track is an invaluable tool for learning cornering, jumping and dynamic riding. Pumping and absorbing are two critical techniques that we will introduce that riders must learn to maintain and increase speed. As the saying goes at the Academy, our goal is to ride our home trails like we ride the pump track.
Jumps - Learning how to jump can be intimidating. Leaving the ground is not something that our instructors take lightly. Our team has developed a system of jumping progressions that will help riders gain confidence one step at a time. We first start on flat ground, practicing foundational skills that will apply to the bike park features. Once riders have a full comprehension of these dynamic body movements, we move on to our table top jumps. All jumps in this clinic can be rolled and provide a safe/positive learning environment.
Drops - Does it roll or does it drop? Learning how to safely identify these features and what technique to apply is an important skill to have in your toolkit. Riders will understand and safely progress from roll downs to small drops. Two drop techniques will be introduced and practiced at the park.
